The 2020 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is showing very well, bursting with notes of dark berries and plums mingled with licorice and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with good concentration and powdery structuring tannins, it's built for the cellar.

A highlight this year is the 2019 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy, a lovely wine that opens in the glass with notions of cassis, plums, sweet berries and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a broad attack that segues into a layered, lively mid-palate, it's a serious effort, built for the cellar.

The 2018 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, berries, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with ample reserves of fruit and powdery structuring tannin, this is a serious cuvée, built for the long haul. As readers may remember, it was with this lieu-dit that the Roty family's association with Marsannay began, as Joseph Roty was hired to work the vineyards here by Monsieur Dupont-Tisserandot, who rewarded him for his labors with a plot of vines.

The 2017 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is showing beautifully from bottle, unwinding to reveal aromas of cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and loamy soil, framed by a deft application of toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, this is broad-shouldered, concentrated and powerful wine, with fine depth and chalky structure, and it will merit and reward some bottle age.

The 2015 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is more brooding than the Champs Saint Etienne, wafting from the glass with suggestions of black cherry, wood smoke, licorice and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with impressive depth and concentration, juicy acids, and the structure for sustained evolution in bottle.
