This tightly wound, backward, masculine, and muscular offering reveals dense black fruits, traces of licorice, and stone-like flavors that are enveloped in tannins. This wine's lack of charm and refinement is made up by its old-vine viscosity, full body, and impressive power. It will require cellaring patience. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2007.
