A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Myola was aged for 22months in French oak, 30% new. Very deep purple-black in color, it offers an intensely scented nose of creme de cassis, blueberry and blackberry compote, chocolate, figs and plum pudding. The palate has a very good backbone of crisp acid and firm, chewy tannins supporting ample fruit and spice flavors. It finishes with very good persistence, though a bit closed and tannic in the mouth at this stage. It should be drinking best from 2014 to 2021. Heathcote II are a relatively new (first vineyard planted in 1995) boutique estate that have been consistently producing high quality, ripe, richly fruited, very full bodied reds in their own signature style.Importer: John Larchet, The Australian Premium Wine Collection; www.tapwc.com.au
