The NV MAVRODAPHNE from Patras is intended to be an easy drinking, approachable and affordable wine. It generally succeeds in the context of those limited goals. In fact, it is a little scary how easy and friendly it is considering that it is 15% in alcohol. You may find yourself consuming a bit too much because it tastes good and goes down easy. It is soft, without a hint of astringency, sugary on the first sip, and then the flavors fade quickly from the finish. It is a pretty small scaled Mavrodaphne. The best taste is always that first sip. For an inexpensive wine meant to be accessible and casual, it is successful in its price range, though, and has some easy appeal. The lot number on this non-vintage wine is LK 13516 with the “M/07” strip under the capsule. Drink now-2013.
