This wine opens to aromas of cured meat that take away from the most delicate parts of the Nebbiolo grape. The Sordo 2016 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione shows savory spice, leather and tobacco. The fruit you do get is dark and black, with plums and blackberries. There are also some tones of balsam or medical herb, with cola and dark licorice. It shows youthful tannins and firm structure that is characteristic Castiglione Falletto, where this vineyard is located. Only 4,500 bottles were made.
