Lurton’s top wines include the 2008 Campo Alegre made from 100% Tinta de Toro. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up aroma of sandalwood, incense, mineral, licorice, and blackberry. In the mouth it reveals considerable structure as well as layers of spicy fruit. Give this dense effort another 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it from 2015 to 2023. The 2007 Campo Alegre is 100% Tinta de Toro aged for 18 months in French oak. It proffers a classy bouquet of cedar, Asian spices, violets, espresso, and blackberry. Full-bodied and mouth-filling on the palate, it contains enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 2-3 years and should provide prime drinking through 2019.
