The 2014 Tornamira is a Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend that is also surreally overripe and thickly concentrated. This is a viable style, another grilling wine, but it seems overdone in this day and age. Raisin, prunes and dried plums appear on the close, giving the wine both sweetness and contrasting sourness. The wine's consistency is syrupy, sweet and chewy.

The 2012 Tornamira is a blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot aged in oak for 14 months. This is a plush and deeply enriched red wine with thick layers of blackberry, dried cherry, moist earth, chewing tobacco and black olive. This red wine offers a very Sicilian feel that is authentic and enduring. The concentration is dark and the wine offers firm, but very ripe tannins.

The 2010 Tornamira is 50% Syrah with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (aged 14 months in oak). The wine is executed flawlessly, and although it shows the plump ripeness that is characteristics of Sicily, this blend is also fine-tuned and focused with plenty of inner harmony. The wine opens to dark, brooding concentration followed by sweet tones of baking spice, black fruit and cherry. It follows through to the palate with enormous smoothness and richness. Tornamira takes a Sicilian twist on three international grapes that have adapted well to the warm climate surroundings. You can drink it now, or wait a few more years. Drink 2014-2020. The 2006 Tornamira is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. A big, opulent wine, the Tornamira is packed with dark cherries, plums, blackberries, grilled herbs, licorice and French oak. Flowers, smoke and mint add complexity as this generous red opens up in the glass. The tannins are a touch firm but there is more than enough fruit to provide balance.
