The 2013 Terres Negres is very balsamic, with aromas of eucalyptus, cola nut, vanilla and cinnamon over a core of ripe fruit. It's a blend of Cari?ena and Garnacha matured in French oak for one year. It has a light to medium-bodied palate with some flavors of acid fruit, with fine tannins, a little hollow in the mid-palate. 15,000 bottles.

The 2012 Terres Negres is produced with old vine Carinena grapes grown on slate soils, which aged for one year in Burgundy oak barrels. The nose is black with aromas of licorice, peat, tar, prunes and cherries with hints of violets. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with dusty tannins. Very good Carinena at a great price. Tasted twice with consistent notes, the 2010 Terres Negres, sourced from a vineyard planted in the Albera Nature Reserve, is pure Carinena aged for 12 months in French barriques. It has a pleasant nose of raspberry and cranberry laced with cedar and forest floor scents. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannins and a very keen thread of citric acidity. It has fine focus and tension towards the finish with crisp blackberry, boysenberry and earthy tones. This is an enjoyable Emporda red. Drink now-2017.
