There are only two barrels of Laurent’s 2005 Santenay Vieilles Vignes, which exhibits a shockingly youthful as well a deep purple color, exuding aromas and flavors of black cherry, black berry, and brown spices. Imposingly rich and ripe on the palate, with a clear, sorbet-like and superbly-concentrated fresh fruit wreathed in aromatic herbs and displaying a firm, chalky substrate, this finishes with a striking interplay of fruit and stone as well as a faintly bitter fruit pit character.
