The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières exhibits an inviting bouquet of citrus oil, wheat toast and spiced pear. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's fleshy and charming, with lively acids and creditable depth at the core. While it's quite a precocious Folatières, I can see it tightening up with a little bottle age.

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières was harvested on the same day as Monnot's Meursault Charmes, but it is entirely different in profile. Aromas of smoky lemon oil, mandarin, dried white flowers, spices and fresh pastry introduce a medium to full-bodied, satiny wine that's pure and fine boned, with racy acids and an elegantly textural profile. This charming Folatières will drink well on release.

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières has a crisp, pretty bouquet like the Meursault Charmes with scents of lemon peel, apricot and white flowers, touches of wet granite just underneath. The palate is well balanced with a rounded entry, not quite as detailed as the aforementioned Meursault but with good length. Fine. Drink over the next six to eight years.

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières has a fragrant bouquet that is like the 2015 Meursault Charmes: touches of dandelion, honeycomb and dried orange peel. Perhaps not as much mineralité as the 2014, but still attractive. The palate is well balanced with citrus peel on the entry, losing a little focus on the mid palate but pulling together towards the edgy finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle and you should have a decent Folatières.

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières has a clean and precise bouquet with orange zest, citrus lemon and light granitic scents that become more accentuated in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, fine focus and a pleasant bitterness lending tension on the finish. This is a commendable Puligny 2013.
