The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres comes from a one-hectare parcel of 50-year-old vines and sees one-third aged in new oak for 15 months. It has a straight-laced bouquet of cooking apple, nettle and flint and takes time to show the vigor it has. The palate is better and more immediate with rounded white peach and citrus notes lining the entry. There is fine cohesion and a nice build in the mouth toward its lime and apricot finish. This is a competent 1er Cru Puligny that can be broached now, but should age over the next 8 to 10 years.
