The 2006 "Synoro" is the first vintage of this blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 20% Agiorgitiko. Synoro means border in Greek - a reference to the border where the three vineyards that supplied the fruit for the wine meet. This is the first submission in bottled, ready-to-sell form, so it's worth another look. The mid-palate is the typically elegant mid-palate one comes to expect from Skouras. Crisp, piercing and mouthwatering, it is succulent on the finish. It does seem to have thinned just a bit, but its balance is quite nice, noting that it still has the youthful intensity to become more intense and tannic with aeration. The earthy Cab Franc notes are, if anything, stronger now. It is laced with green nuances, which will please some fanciers of the grape, and displease others. This is approachable now, but still needs a 1-3 years in the cellar for better results. It is going to be a graceful wine with some complexity, but it may never develop a lot of easygoing charm.
