The 2015 St Aubin 1er Cru Sur Le Sentier du Clou, which was bottled in August 2016, has a clean and precise bouquet that comes across a touch more conservative than other premier crus from this domaine, yet it delivers impressive focus and tension. The palate is very precise and clean, understated on the entry but building in the mouth with wonderful tension and complexity on the finish, the salinity absolutely top notch. This comes highly recommended.

The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Sur le Sentier du Clou has a more complex bouquet than the 2014 Clos des Mei - more mineral tones here, touches of damp woodland and Japanese yuzu. The palate is precise on the entry but perhaps does not quite deliver the tension, the nervosité that I was anticipating. There is good depth here, but it does not quite leap off the top diving board on the finish, that is more stately and composed. This is very fine, but it does not want to take any chances.

There is a little more earthiness about the nose of the 2013 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Sur le Sentier du Clou compared to Colin's other premier crus, though with aeration it develops wilted petal scents, eases into its stride. The palate is underpinned by crisp acidity and tension, very citric in the mouth and more tightly coiled than Colin’s other premier crus. Green apples and lemon zest furnish the finish of this Saint Aubin that has Puligny-like pretensions! Very fine.

(GOOD VALUE CHOICE) Muted lime and pear nose. Fresh and juicy, but has a lively attack and fair acidity; compact, quite mineral and has a lively persistent finish.
