As one might expect, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a darker ruby hue as well as sweeter, more candied strawberry and cherry fruit and the southern Rhone’s tell-tale garrigue character. Medium-bodied, ripe and pleasant but hardly inspiring, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years.(Not yet released)No known American importer.

The medium ruby-colored 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits lots of autumnal/vegetative notes intermixed with hints of damp earth, spice box, pepper and washed out cherry fruit. Pleasant and easygoing, it is best drunk over the next several years. No known American importer.

Displaying a more saturated plum/ruby color, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape offers a big, sweet bouquet of forest floor, damp earth, pepper, licorice, black currants, and cherries. This medium to full-bodied offering is one of the finest wines produced at this estate in many years. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years. Since a new generation took control at this estate, quality appears to have risen as evidenced by the excellent 2007.No known American importer.

Very Provencal, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape shows sweet cherry, jammy notes intermixed with fig and hints of peach and plum in a dark garnet-colored wine. It is medium to full-bodied, spicy, and tres Chateauneuf du Pape.

Aromas of balsam wood and resiny pine needles are generally found in a Lou Frejau Chateauneuf du Pape, regardless of vintage conditions. The medium ruby-colored 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals sweet cherry/kirsch-like fruit notes, medium body, and a soft, open-knit, Provencal personality.
