As usual a blend of La Combe d'Orvaux and declassified premier cru fruit from Les Plantes, Mugnier's 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village is a beauty, wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with melting tannins, lively acids and a floral finish, readers might think of it as bottled perfume.

Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, rose petals and cassis, the 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village is medium to full-bodied, velvety and perfumed, with a rich core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. Seamless and vibrant, it's a terrific cuvée.

Wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, rose petals, orange rind and spices, Mugnier's 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village is medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, with a seamless core of fruit that entirely conceals its supple structuring tannins. Rich but vibrant, it's striking for its charm and sensuality.

Revisited in bottle, Mugnier's 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village bursts with aromas of raspberries, cherries, warm spices, rose petals and heather. Medium to full-bodied, bright and charming, with a fleshy core of fruit and rich structuring tannins, it's not quite as exquisitely refined as its 2019 counterpart, but it has turned out very well.

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village has only gained in depth and complexity since I last tasted it, unwinding in the glass with aromas of raspberries, cherries, orange rind, dried flowers, forest floor and grilled squab. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish.
