Aromas of pear, toasted nuts and orange oil introduce the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, firm and muscular wine that's structured around prodigious levels of dry extract and framed by a deft application of new oak. This is built to age and will require some patience.

Offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil, dried white flowers and a delicate touch of nutmeg, the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, firm and chalky, with chewy dry extract and brisk acids, concluding with good grip on the finish.

The 2016 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru has a slightly smudged bouquet, waxy and resinous with a hint of lime flower. The palate is quite fat and rounded, with passionfruit and lychee, lower acidity than recent vintages and a generous finish. There is great substance here and it should age with style over the next decade.

The 2015 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru has an outstanding bouquet with superb mineralité and tension. There is energy locked into this wine, palpable even at this early stage. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity: tensile and focused, yet with great depth and a very persistent and refreshingly saline finish. His 2015 surpasses the somewhat perplexing 2014 Corton-Charlemagne and might turn out to be the best that David Croix has made.
