Jean-Fran?ois Coche produced this bottle of 1976 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes from vines belonging to the Tessier family—located in an enclave within the Comtes Lafon holdings—that were leased to him during this period. The wine is showing well, opening in the glass with notes of citrus zest, warm oatmeal, iodine and rock salt, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated palate that's still firm and introverted, built around searingly chalky dry extract and tangy acids. While this is nowhere near decline it's also a rather unyielding wine from the master of Meursault.
