The 2017 Maranges Rouge represents the first year that the wine produced from these vines—which formerly went into the domaine's Bourgogne—will be bottled as a standalone cuvée. Displaying notes of smoky plums and rich soil, the wine is medium-bodied, with promising depth and rich structuring tannin. It was one of the more backward wines in the range when I tasted it, but it has excellent potential.
