Rivetti's 2007 Barbaresco Bricco Riserva is dark, fleshy and sensual, yet retains an essentially delicate, mid-weight personality. Sweet red cherries, plums, spice cake and dried flowers blossom in the glass over time. The 2007 boasts gorgeous mid-palate pliancy and a round, caressing finish. It can be drunk now or cellared for up to a decade. The 2007 Riserva has the persistence and depth I find missing in the 2009 Bric Micca. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. Mint, clove, vanilla and toast notes dominate the cherry and berry flavors now, yet this suave red is supple and balanced, so give it the benefit of the doubt and a few more years to strut its stuff. The 2006 Barbaresco Bricco Riserva is impressive. Layers of plush, dark fruit take shape nicely in the glass as this powerful, intense Barbaresco shows off its pedigree. The wine turns more delicate in the glass as warm, spiced notes from the oak become more prominent. All of the elements flow gracefully to the inviting finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. A vibrant, taut red, intensely flavored with licorice, cherry, almond, leather and tar. Pronounced acidity gives this lift and resonance, carrying the spice- and mineral-tinged finish. Slightly advanced in color, with an amber hue. This has intense aromas of stewed fruit, raisin and Christmas cake. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a slightly rustic finish.
