Considerably riper than the 2016, Clearview's 2013 The Basket Press is a blend of 31.5% Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Sauvignon with 31.5% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, plus 5.5% Malbec, all from Te Awanga. Aged nearly three years in new oak, there's much more intensity here than in the 2016, and the wine shows rich dark chocolate and cassis notes yet finishes tart and tangy.
