The neglected third grape of white Bergerac (as also in Bordeaux), after Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, is Muscadelle. It forms the impressive base for this wine. It has a rich character, heavily spiced with wood, nutmeg, perfumed with violets and lemon verbena. This serious, impressive wine is for aging, the toast character still dominant. ——R.V.(3/1/2010)—— 91
