Made by Louis Fabre and all from the limestone soils of the Boutenac cru inside the Corbières, the 2012 Corbieres Boutenac La Serre is a fabulous wine that does everything right. Made from 32% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Carignan and the balance Grenache, hand harvested (which unfortunately isn't as common in the Languedoc as it should be), and aged 12 months in French oak, it has tons of chalky minerality and liquid rock characteristics to go with beautiful dark fruit, peppery, and garrigue aromas and flavors. These give way to a classic, balanced, medium to full-bodied red that has top notch purity and the class to drink nicely for another decade.
