I preferred Thierry Tastu’s tank-rendered 2004 Corbieres Cuvee Notre Dame – one third each Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan – to his “prestige” cuvee, but the latter was tasted in its 2003 incarnation. This Cuvee Notre Dame offers lovely aromas of plum paste, roasted meats, and brown spices, lavishes the palate with sappy fruit and substantial meaty depth, and finishes satisfyingly, if somewhat simply.
