This wine has gone through a bit of a restyling since I last tasted it. The 2018 Chardonnay Collezione dai Vigneti di Monsanto Fabrizio Bianchi opens to a thick and buttery aromatic profile and full-bodied appeal. The wine wraps thickly over the palate with freshly baked morning cornetto and toasted almond. One-third of the wine is fermented in oak, and the rest goes into stainless steel. It finishes with just enough acidity to keep the wine real and energized. This is a good opportunity to try your hand at a typical Tuscan pancotto with clams and shrimp. The wine hits all the right spots, including an attractive price point. Some 25,000 bottles were made.

Castello di Monsanto always shows a deft hand with Chardonnay and this vintage is no exception. The 2014 Chardonnay Fabrizio Bianchi is an impressive effort. The wine offers good density and texture, and a complete set of varietal aromas that includes citrus, stone fruit and toasted almond. One-third of the grapes is fermented in tonneaux and the rest in cone-shaped tanks. Some 24,000 bottles are made.

I've always been a big fan of this wine. I consider the 2013 Chardonnay Fabrizio Bianchi to be one of the most successful, long-standing expressions of the French grape in Tuscany. The wine delivers a carefree and informal side but it is not without its inner sophistication. Creamy fruit, pear and peach segue to sharper flavors of citrus and crushed mineral. These two sides of the equation balance out very nicely especially in this good vintage.

The 2012 Chardonnay Fabrizio Bianchi is a delicious white wine from Tuscany. There is some oaky creaminess here, but it is delivered in delicate dollops. Exotic fruit flavors of passion fruit, papaya and pineapple are followed by subtle tones of vanilla and toasted almond. The mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth, rich and crisp. Those three important qualities give the wine a long sense of persistency and a bright personality.

The 2011 Chardonnay Fabrizio Bianchi opens with tonic tones of lemon curd, cantaloupe melon and white peach. A pretty touch of toasted almond gives weight and substance to the silky finish.
