The 2008 Syrah shows quite a bit more focus and energy than the Block 7. There is plenty of depth in its plums, blueberries, spices and violets. The 2007 Syrah is a single vineyard offering from estate holdings in Santa Ynez. Composed of 89% Syrah and 11% Petite Sirah, it possesses a dense purple color along with notes of peppery meats intermixed with blueberry, blackberry, camphor, incense and licorice. Drink this broad, fleshy Syrah over the next 5-6 years. This winery was a perennial under-achiever until it was purchased by the huge Gallo empire.
