The 2008 and 2009 Viogniers are both blended with Marsanne, 14% in 2009 and 4% Marsanne as well as 5% Chardonnay in 2008. Both are exotic, fruit-forward, extroverted efforts, with the 2008 more flamboyant and the 2009 slightly more restrained, although it shows classic characteristics of spring flower garden, white peach and lychee nut. Both are best consumed over the next 12 months because of their delicate aromatics. This winery was a perennial under-achiever until it was purchased by the huge Gallo empire. Since then, the quality has taken a dramatic turn for the better. Moreover, there are lots of values to be found at Bridlewood Estate Winery, especially their Red Blend 175.www.bridlewoodwinery.com
