The 2003 Senorio de Valdehermoso Crianza was not quite up to the challenge although it is an excellent effort. Also 100% Tempranillo, it was aged 13 months in French oak. It is purple in color with aromas and flavors of toasty oak, blackberries, spice and minerals. It has more density and power than the first two wines but remains somewhat compact and dry in the finish. Perhaps 2-4 years in bottle will round this Crianza out and make my score look conservative.
