The 2005 Premium Reserva 6 Anos was sourced from older vines and aged for 36 months in barrel. Opaque purple in color with a lightly roasted perfume of sandalwood, violets, pencil lead, espresso, and blackberry, on the palate it is dense, layered and structured in the style of the best 2005s. Give this long, savory, well-balanced wine another 5-7 years of cellaring and drink it through 2025 if not longer. The previously reviewed 1999 Gran Reserva 12 Anos was presented again and showed very nicely, benefitting from the additional bottle age. Sadly, wines in this style with 5 years of barrel aging plus additional time in bottle prior to release are a rarity these days.Bodegas y Vinedos Valduero was the ninth Bodega to register with the region's Consejo in the late 1980s demonstrating how recent the development in Ribera del Duero really is. Now there are well over 200 Bodegas making Valduero one of the DO's venerable producers. Valduero's new releases are outstanding.Importer:Multiple Importers
