The 1986 Rioja, which is fairly priced given the increasingly exorbitant prices of wines from this region, is a more earthy, cedary wine. It offers excellent richness, medium body, freshness, and a long, lush, heady finish. Fortunately, there is none of the musty, old oak character that dominates so many wines from this region. It should drink well for 2-3 years. Importer: C.I.V., San Francisco, CA.
