The 2008 Sinforiano Tempranillo was also sourced from 80-year-old vines and spent 13 months in French and American oak in the style of a Crianza. Cedar, spice box, tobacco, violets, and blackberry aromas lead to a savory, incipiently complex, smooth-textured wine with excellent volume, good balance, and a lengthy finish. Give it 1-2 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2012 to 2020.
Bodegas Sinforiano is a small family-owned and operated estate in the DO of Cigales north of the more celebrated DOs of Ribera del Duero and Toro. As in those two regions the principal grape variety is Tempranillo.
