The 2009 Castillo de Almansa Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) was raised in stainless steel. Cherry red in color with a nose of pomegranate, cranberry, mineral, and bacon, on the palate it is easy-going, concentrated, and quite unique in its flavor profile. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. Garnacha Tintorera is better known in the USA as Alicante Bouchet. At Castillo de Almansa the vines are planted without trellises and give tiny yields of 1.2 tons per acre. The 2005 Garnacha Tintorera, raised in stainless steel, is purple-colored with ripe black fruit aromas and flavors.
