The very young red 2021 Bozeto de Exopto mixes Tempranillo from ábalos and Mediterranean Garnacha from Alfaro (with 10% Graciano), and it seems very balanced, with good ripeness (14.5%), showing the Garnacha and the more austere Graciano with nice fruit and freshness. It's serious and has complexity and depth beyond its price point. It matured in a combination of concrete and oak containers for some six months. Excellent value in one of the finest vintages for this wine. 70,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2022.

The red 2019 Bozeto de Exopto is a blend of 50% Tempranillo from ábalos with the Mediterranean touch of 40% Garnacha and 10% Graciano from Alfaro to add freshness. He wants the wine to express the Garnacha character, and it does but in a subtler way than if it was a varietal bottling. But all the grapes seem nicely integrated and complement each other. The wine fermented in a combination of stainless steel, concrete vats and used barriques, where it matured for six months. 2019 is a warmer, Mediterranean vintage, and the wine is soft and approachable, juicy and fruit driven. 75,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019, earlier than in cooler years.

The just-bottled red 2018 Bozeto de Exopto is a superb young and fruit-driven blend of 50% Tempranillo and 40% Garnacha with a 10% pinch of Graciano to add freshness. The destemmed but uncrushed grapes fermented in stainless steel, concrete and oak containers with indigenous yeasts and matured for six months, the Garnacha in concrete, the Tempranillo in oak vats and a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano in well-seasoned barriques. 2018 was clearly a cool, Atlantic vintage (as opposed to Mediterranean vintages), and the grapes ripened slowly; some of the grapes (the Garnacha) were harvested later than ever. This juicy and fruit-driven young red is aromatic and more fluid, fresher and approachable. The palate is fresh and light, a wine to enjoy without moderation! 75,000 bottles produced make this 75% of the production of the winery. It was bottled in April 2019.

The fresh and fruit-driven 2016 Bozeto de Exopto is a blend of 50% Garnacha from Monte Agudo in Alfaro, 40% Tempranillo from ábalos and 10% Graciano, also from Alfaro, to provide acidity and freshness. The destemmed but uncrushed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures in stainless steel, concrete and oak vats. The different grapes were aged separately for seven months, the Garnacha in concrete, some Tempranillo in oak vats and the remaining Tempranillo and Graciano in well-seasoned, neutral barriques. It's a fruit-driven, slightly grapey red, and this cuvée, with its high percentage of juicy, round and ripe Garnacha, has more of a Mediterranean character. 2016 was a high-yielding vintage, perhaps more so for Tempranillo. This is precise and clean, everything seems to be in its place, and the wine has settled with some time in bottle. 75,000 bottles were produced, bottled in two lots with the same blend within one month.

The entry-level red is the 2015 Bozeto de Exopto, a blend of 50% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from a warm, Mediterranean vintage that favored the Garnacha in a way similar to 2012. The Garnacha and Graciano come from Alfaro in Rioja Baja, and the Tempranillo from ábalos in Rioja Alta. It fermented in a combination of stainless steel, cement and oak vats, and the élevage was also mixed--the Garnacha in cement and the Tempranillo and Graciano in oak, mostly well-seasoned barrels, but part of the Tempranillo was kept in the oak vats. There are notes of Mediterranean aromatic herbs, esparto grass and ripe plums, a year where Garnacha seems to take the lead. They got very healthy grapes, with notes of blueberries and violets, quite exuberant. The palate is juicy, extremely tasty, with fine tannins and good balance. This is a supple, exuberant red, very hedonistic, open and fruit-driven, reflecting the style of the year. 2014 and 2013 were more austere, here you get a much more voluptuous wine. Very good price. 70,000 bottles produced.
