One of the best second wines made in California is the selection for what Araujo calls Altagracia. The 2006 Altagracia is a soft, round, up-front, seductive wine with sweet black currant and cherry fruit interwoven with hints of licorice, roasted herbs, and earth. This gracious, generously endowed wine is pure, lush, and ideal for drinking over the next 10 or so years. The Cabernet Sauvignon from the Eisele Vineyard didn’t show nearly as well as I had hoped. In particular, the 2007, which I thought was great last year, seems to have gotten much lighter in style than what I had originally predicted.Tel. (707) 942-6061; Fax (707) 942-6471
