A barrel sample of the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve looks very promising. An exuberant, boisterous display of creme de cassis, licorice and new oak is followed by a seamlessly constructed, full-bodied, rich wine with loads of black fruits. The acidity provides freshness, the tannins are ripe and well-integrated, and the wood component is nearly concealed by the extravagant quantities of fruit. This winner should drink well for 15-20 years.
Ferrari-Carano appears to have the correct formula for Fume Blanc. Perhaps I am a bit sentimental as it was my Mother’s favorite wine, and was the only wine with which I could ever get her slightly buzzed. The red wines include the flagship Tresor, always a blend of their finest lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot.
