The results of this tasting were extremely interesting, as I and most Bordeaux brokers and enthusiasts believed that Chateau de Malle's 1990 was the finest sweet wine the estate had made in decades. Certainly it is an outstanding effort, and given the reasonable price, it is a noteworthy purchase. The 1989 performed well, although it appeared to be somewhat simple compared to the 1988 and 1990 vintages. It is medium to full-bodied, with ripe, rich fruit, enough acidity to provide uplift, and a fleshy finish. It should drink well for another decade.
