Legacy used to be Stonestreet’s flagship wine, but it is now marketed separately. The 2003 Legacy’s dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by a bouquet of graphite, black fruits, earth, and charcoal. This attractive, medium-bodied blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age given its tannic structure. The 2003 Meritage (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc) had a bit more to it than the 2001, with a denser saturated ruby color, a sweeter, riper nose of black currants, blackberries, smoke, and chocolate, and a deeper, fuller palate with additional dimensions as well as depth.
