The 2010 Alges is a blend of 40% Garnacha, 40% Syrah and 20% Tempranillo aged for nine months in a mixture of new, used, French and American oak barrels. It has a slightly animal character, with aromas of leather, licorice, ink, and cured meat, with some orange rind and dark cherries thrown into the mix. The palate is medium-bodied, with moderate acidity and polished tannins, easy to drink. Drink now-2017.
Clos Pons was only created in 2012 by the Pons family, but it really started in 2005 when they planted 33 hectares of vineyards. They later bought a further nine hectares of over 30-year-old vines to complement the young fruit.
