Vasse Felix's entry-level Chardonnay, the 2016 Filius Chardonnay offers a restrained nose of pineapple and lemon curd, a medium-bodied, plump feel on the palate and a bright, refreshing finish. It's all aged in French oak (19% new), but it's noticeable only as faint hints of toasted grain or nuts—what this wine emphasizes is fresh, refined fruit.
