The 2004 Muriel Reserva (from an even better Rioja vintage than 2005) offers a similar personality but is more plush and savory on the palate. Sweetly fruited, silky textured, and long, this is a great value in traditional Rioja for drinking over the next 10-15 years.
Bodegas Muriel is the third largest landowner in Rioja with all of the following wines produced from 100% Tempranillo. Almost every traditional Rioja producer now feels compelled to make a more fruit-forward, modern-style wine as part of their portfolio.
