The 2003 Syrah Reserve Glenrose Vineyard (a relatively high altitude site at a 1,700 foot elevation) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as a big, broad, oaky nose offering plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit, generous sweet tannin, and full-bodied power, but neither the complexity nor structure of its Viking Vineyard sibling. It is certainly excellent, and may become outstanding after another year or so of bottle age. It should drink well for a decade. Tel. (800) 676-1232
