With six months in Slavonian oak casks, the 2013 Rosso di Montalcino is a well-balanced expression that offers primary aromas of bold cherry and raspberry. Dusty mineral shadings appear at the edges and give the wine a better sense of refinement and finesse. The wine does a great job of showing not only the potential of the often underrated 2013 vintage, but it holds the banner high for the Rosso category in general. It is food-friendly, approachable and full of good cheer.
