A beautiful effort, the opaque ruby/purple-hued, Mediterranean-styled 2008 Syrah Ampelos Vineyard exhibits a meaty, spicy, peppery personality revealing lots of roasted herb notes. One hundred percent whole cluster fermentation makes this young Syrah vigorously tannic and spicy. It’s enormously rich and concentrated in white pepper, currant, violet, grilled meat and cedar flavors, with a core of grilled blackberries.
