As for the 2000 Gigondas Les Garancieres, this blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre was aged in large wood foudres and tank. It exhibits charming notions of sweet cherries, raspberries, and plums, medium to full body, admirable density and purity, and a lovely sweetness in the mouth. It is bottled without filtration. This wine should drink well for a decade. As I indicated in 2001, Yves Gras, one of the most talented producers of Gigondas, is also offering wines under a negociant label called Santa Duc Selections. These offerings are made from purchased fruit, as opposed to the estate-bottled efforts that appear under the name Domaine Santa Duc.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel.
