The 2006 Albert Shiraz was sourced from 50- to 90-year-old vines in the Gomersal and Ebenezer sub-regions of Barossa. It spent 18 months in 30% new French oak after which there was a barrel selection and blending followed by another six months in oak. Saturated purple in color, it offers up an alluring perfume of pain grille, pepper, scorched earth, blueberry, and blackberry. This leads to a medium to full-bodied, thick Shiraz with layers of blue and black fruit, excellent balance, and enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years.
