The 2012 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch (50% new oak) is dazzling. I recently finished my last bottles of the 2006 Zio Tony, and that wine is still going strong at age 8, which tells me these wines will probably last and evolve a lot longer than I have predicted. The 2012 offers up wonderful honeysuckle, white peach, orange marmalade, white currant and spring flower characteristics as well as crisp acids, a full-bodied, fresh, vibrant mouthfeel and plenty of exuberance and sexiness. Consume it over the next decade. Fortunately, this is the largest cuvée of 413 cases.
