The barrel fermented 2004 Chardonnay d’Honneur has a very attractive bouquet with dried apricot, walnut and dried flowers whilst the palate has a very leesy entry, good acidity with great weight in the mouth. Much more Napa in style than Burgundy: long with touches of dried honey on the finish, this is an assured mature Chardonnay. Drink now-2014. Based in Robertson, De Wetshof was founded by Danie de Wet who pioneered many of South Africa’s dry white wines in the 1970’s after taking over from his father in 1972.Importer: Worthwhile Wine Company, Atlanta, GA; tel.
