The 2004 Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Muhlpoint came from certain parcels with lower yields and therefore higher must weights and more concentration. It smells of mint, fennel, lime and green beans. More concentrated and also compressed than the corresponding Federspiel, it displays the pungency of mint, sharpness of cress, and rich but faintly bitter character of roasted root vegetables. It is formidably long, with pronounced peppery and bitter notes, at this early date anyway. Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
