The 2010 Dolcetto d’Alba Coste & Fossati is quite firm in this vintage. It possesses plenty of fruit and intensity, but it is a serious Dolcetto with tons of underlying structure that needs time to resolve itself. The energetic, wiry finish is super elegant. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. This is another superb set of wines from Aldo and Milena Vajra. What else is new? I am sure one day the Vajras will receive the broader recognition they so richly deserve. A dark, brooding Dolcetto, laced with tannins and black cherry and plum flavors. It's an ambitious red, turning this juicy quaffing varietal into a more serious style.
