It’s been a few years since I last tasted Vajra’s 2004 Dolcetto d’Alba Coste & Fossati. At four years of age the wine has lost some of its freshness yet it remains an incredibly pure, full-bodied Dolcetto packed with fruit. There is remarkable clarity in both the aromas and flavors, not to mention compelling overall balance. Although I generally prefer Dolcetto on the young side, this is one wine that has the stuffing to continue to develop for at least another 3-5 years, if not considerably longer.
