The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a blend of mostly Grenache with some Syrah and Mourvedre. Provencal notes of herbes de Provence, smoked meats, pepper, and black cherries jump from the glass as well as the flavors of this wine, which is medium to full-bodied, tannic, and backward. It will need 4-5 years of bottle age and last for 15 or more. Importers: Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel. (516) 327-0808 and Stacole Fine Wines, Boca Raton, FL; tel. (561) 998-0029
